Cuffs

Model based on the construction of the Russian cuffs. On the first sight these handcuffs are remarkable for their more robust construction and untypical design. In comparison with standard MO handcuffs - both cheek plates are more robust, jaw is made of thicker plate of steel. Also the connection of both rings is stronger. They are also very remarkable for their rounded chain and body of the lock has very specific shape with strange long spur for chain. These handcuffs have smaller minimum opening for insertation of the wrist - slightly more than 50mm. Unlike the vast majority of handcuffs have not classical keyway, but they use screw key and the keyway is placed under the chain at the edge of the lock. Owing to this precaution in junction with very strong springs in the lock makes them very difficult to be opened without original keys.

Model 1953 - lock

Model 1953

Here you can see one of the post war handcuffs from Poland. This model was probably introduced around 1955 and made till approximately 1970/75. The shape of these handcuffs is very similar to newer models, are remarkable by their rough surface and also the blackening tends to be wear-out very often. They have quite large minimum opening for insertation the wrist 57mm, so they are large enough for women with small wrists. The rivets are flushed, chain has two eyes. The lock is very simple and very reliable, the only one pawl, the cuffs are equipped with double lock, which can be activated by long pin of the key. They have no grooves and dimples, so they are not so strong like US cuffs. The springs are quite soft. The standard of manufacturing is very good, material used is of a high quality and the cuffs are very reliable.

Model 1955

This model is the successor of the previous older model. These cuffs were introduced probably around 1970/75 and made till the 90s. The shape is very similar to older model; there are only small differences in some details. Their surface is absolutely smooth, rivets are also flushed. The materials they are made of are of a high quality and resist the frictional wear very well. The chain has two eyes; there are no grooves for higher strengths again. Locking mechanism uses the same principle - one multi-teeth pawl with double lock. Springs are slightly harder in comparison to older model. They usually have PPST inscription and four digit number stamped on them, the sense of these markings are unknown. This can be manufacturer’s brand mark and date of production or mark and date of technical control.

Model 1974

This is the most modern model of Polish handcuffs, introduced perhaps in the middle of the 90s. The quality is excellent, standard of manufacturing is very high, the work absolutely perfectly. Their shape is very similar to the model from year 1996, only small differences can be seen. They use visible rivets too; unlike the version with longer chain they have two eyes only. Two versions exist - they differ in the shape of the swivels. They have special stamping on them - the sense of these marks is unknown. They use special multi-bit key.
